ASSIGNMENT TWO: 'Point of sale' After research, my ideas and observations, here are my final images. SUMMER: 12x12 inch. Watercolour on acrylic paper. AUTUMN: 12x12 inch. Watercolour on acrylic paper. Conclusion: This assignment was so interesting! 'Be bold and brilliant'. 'Bright and vibrant colours grab peoples attention'. Through my research, these words really stuck with me and I wanted to commit to them in my delivery. I was especially influenced by Zazie Bulles during this exercise and was happy to use the 'splatter' technique so brilliantly used by this artist (previously experimented with in the 'exploring drawing and painting exercise). 'Quality' was the focus in the brief', I tried to make my displays look fresh, colourful and exciting. I feel excited by them!

ASSIGNMENT TWO: Ideas and observation... I started my search for inspiration with my mood boards: SUMMER: AUTUMN: I found the orange and purple colour contrast most exciting in the Autumn selection. The purple inspired by Zazie Bulles : On my travels I was drawn to the imagery used by 'Pret a Manger' that I collected. The fruit and vegetables are bright and vibrant highlighted more so with the simple white background. The dissected pieces are fun and cleverly matched together. The text being made up of different fonts is a classy twist. I find this marketing idea quirky and exciting. I just love the larger than life broccoli with a make shift ladder propped up beside it. Could a giant vegetable highlight quality? I think it does in this image, big and succulent. The very best. I also took a wonder and picked a home grown apple straight from the tree. It is a beautiful apple, so perfect with its leaves ...

ASSIGNMENT TWO: Point of sale display... Part one: Research. The brief: 'To create images which will be used within a campaign for a supermarket, to package and promote a range of seasonal foods. The supermarket is respected for the quality of food they supply. They want to promote this notion of quality in their design and packages. The finished images will be a 'point of sale' display sited in a store near to the fruit and vegetables. The final reproduction size will be 12x12 inches. Your artwork can be the same size or in scale.' What makes a good 'point of sale' display? I looked at UK media brand 'Serendipity2' for the detail to consider. The advice is as follows... Be bold and brilliant. Highlight the benefits of the product. Bright and vibrant colours grab people’s attention. Make the most of showing offers and discounts. The key word in my brief is 'quality'. The definition for my own clarity: 1. T...

Visual metaphors... The visual metaphors that have caught my attention presented in a mood board: From the list provided, I have chosen to expand on ' High achievement'. I struggled to feel inspired by this term as a whole and my initial thoughts felt quite stale. I decided to split the words up into 'high' and then 'achievement'.... This proved fruitful! I felt inspired. I then translated some of my words into my moodboard: 'High achievement' - My drawings... A full moon and a wooden ladder, ready to climb high? A gold trophy at the very top of a high rise... A gold medal flying high on a hot air balloon... A rocket already past the stars. Destination, the top... I asked for thoughts on the four drawings and these are the words I collected: "Climbing" "Doing well" "Success" "Moving forward" "The sky's the limit!" "Hard worker" ...
